La Pupa Klubo uses a range of puppets and puppetry techniques to captivate kids and adults alike. In this show, there are rod puppets, hand puppets, shadow puppets and traditional Japanese puppets. The brightly coloured sets, lively music and short show duration keep the children’s attention. The highlight? The puppeteers don’t hide their faces like the more traditional Bunraku but after a couple of minutes you won’t notice them as your attention is cleverly focused on the puppets and the wonderful story being woven before your very eyes. The show is in Japanese and English.

1. Built in 1971 in Shinjuku, the heart of Tokyo, this was Japan's first modern theatre created specifically to stage puppet plays.

2. In the hands of seasoned puppeteers, brightly coloured puppets and lively music bring old and new stories to life.

3. When performing for children, a quiet theatre means a good show! In PUK, even a full house is usually well behaved.

4. The theatre presents approximately 10 different plays each year, welcoming families, artists and tourists from all over the world.

5. The theatre has many things for young visitors to explore, including different types of puppets, miniature furniture, and other storytelling tools.
