Takarazuka Kagekidan is a famous all-female musical theatre group in Japan. The Takarazuka Revue is currently comprised of five troupes, each of which has its own unique style. The group is also well-known for its wide spectrum of performances, ranging from Japanese adaptation of Broadway hits to Japanese folktales and original stories from manga. Don’t be surprised if the majority of the audience is women. You will certainly be amazed by the actresses’ extravagant costumes and gorgeous stage design.

1. Check the schedule for both current and upcoming performances featuring lavish productions by fascinating all-female troupes.

2. Between the glittering chandelier, the elegant stone floors and pillars, and the sweeping staircase, the theatre’s foyer is a dramatic spectacle in its own right.

3. Upon entering, you’ll walk the red carpet like a star up an enormous stage-wide staircase to the brilliant performances upstairs.

4. A statue of a performer preparing greets you outside the theatre, which was constructed in 2001 to replace the original building from 1934.

5. Don’t be fooled by the quiet street between performances! Crowds flock in from the nearby Yurakucho or Hibiya Station to catch the latest show.
