Hang out at a ‘yokocho’ alley

Forget about Tokyo’s shiny skyscrapers, massive complexes and other architectural showpieces. If you look closely, you will find a more down-to-earth side of this mega city in the hidden alleyways or ‘yokocho’ between or behind buildings. Explore one of these alleys, such as Nonbei and Sankaku Chitai, and you will find Yakitori and ramen shops, or the izakayas and bars where locals usually hang out.
